Happy Planning with the Happy Planner™

A review of the Happy Planner™ from Me and My Big Ideas®

HFH6U1U5T4

Some time last year, I was on the phone with a friend who was doing her utmost to convince me that I NEEDED a planner in my life. I work full time, have a homeschooled child, and an entrepreneurial husband. For weeks, conversation after conversation, I managed to lovingly talk around her wholehearted efforts to convert me – a caker, scrapper, and all around crafty girl – into her sidekick as a planner addict. I must admit…her persistence paid off.  She had FINALLY persuaded me into what has now become my new addiction; PLANNING.

So now that I was convinced that I needed a planner in my life, I asked myself a few questions to understand what type of planner would work best for me, a newbie, and I decided on the Happy Planner™from Me and My Big Ideas® (MAMBI). I’ve been using it for a few months and I must admit – I absolutely love it!

Let’s discuss why…

Questions to Ask Yourself When Choosing a Planner

Planning: The New Scrapbooking

Just as orange has become the new black, planning has become the new scrapbooking. It combines the love of creative layouts with scheduling and organization! Creativity and organization – what could be better?! However, there are so many ways to begin “planning” that it can seem daunting. My suggestion would be to start with your own personal style. Answering the following questions might assist you in finding the right planner for your style (…for now 😈 You’ll understand this comment once you actually begin planning.  It can become quite addicting).

  • Do you desire the look of classic leather planners, canvas, or a customizable material (these could be leather, plastic, or fabric) cover?
  • Would you prefer a zip closure, band, or snap closure?
  • Do you like notebook, spiral bound, ring bound or disc system?
  • Are you going to use your planner for work, your own business, or family activities and meal planning?
  • Are you going to track events and activities monthly, weekly, daily, or hourly?
  • Do you wish to use your planner as an activities tracker only, or do you also wish to journal in your planner? Perhaps you wish to journal/draw in a planner but want to keep this in a separate planner.

What is Periscope?

Okay – so I am such a loving and giving person I just HAVE to share with you my latest obsession…PERISCOPE! I introduced it to you in my From MiPhone to Yours post and shared how great and fabulous it was, but I’m not quite sure that I was AS obsessed with it then as I am now.

Periscope is a very new – I’d say it’s still in the walking stage since its debut in March 2015 – live streaming platform, which provides an incredible stage for teaching and learning. You can teach and learn about beauty, how to run a business, social media, marketing, blogging, technology, cooking; you can find a virtual prayer partner, workout partner or a planner buddy; and you can inspire, motivate, and encourage others to be their best, do their best and be of value to others. As with everything, people have found ways to monetize Periscope, so it has also become a mecca for selling self-help, mentoring and coaching services.

5 Top Tips for Starting Your Broadcast Like a Pro on Periscope (#PeriNewbies)

Your first broadcast on Periscope can seem pretty scary, but these tips will help you get started and be confident straight out of the gate! First things first, you must follow me 😃. Nah, I’m just kidding! But it would be great and greatly appreciated if you did. My periscope handle is @LovelyCreationz – couldn’t get DailyDosewithLiz, too many characters. Which actually leads me to the first tip…

Tip #1 – Be sure to find a handle that suits you and what you’ll be scoping about.

If you have not created your Periscope account yet, keep this in mind when you get ready to create it…Periscope is Twitter’s live streaming app, so you’ll create your account using your Twitter handle. However, if you need to create a new Twitter account, be sure to find a handle that suits you and what you’ll be scoping about. Remember that Twitter and Periscope will only allow you up to 15 characters. Continue reading

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz DUPE!

Eyebrows…never leave home without ‘em 👀.  I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when I discovered Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz! Because I can never leave my house without putting on my eyebrows, and this is such a great product, I used up my first Brow Wiz in just three weeks!!! Whaaaaa?!?!?! Yes – I used it THAT much! So I ran right out and purchased another one. However, realizing that I could not keep doing this – I mean seriously, as much as I love it, spending $18 on a brow pencil every three weeks is just not an option. Thus began my quest for a dupe! And BOOYAA – I found one!

Boneyard Beach

This place is one of the most mysterious and beautiful places I have ever visited in this state. I’ve lived in Florida for practically my entire life and have never experienced anything as mystic as this place. The broken earth just steps away from the shoreline. The resting oak trees midway submerged in the rough waters of the sea…it’s entrancing.  All I could do was marvel in its dark and dreary beauty next to the rough waters, since we visited on a rainy day. I was somewhat saddened that this beautiful sight was created through the natural process of erosion, but in perspective the fact that it’s one of only a few that exists on our nation’s shorelines made me come to peace with it.

(Current) Daily Face Cleansing Routine

Let’s be real people, not all of us can stay 24 forever; that’s just a special arrangement I made with God 😏 14 years ago. So…since none of us have the all-magical fountain of youth in our backyards, I thought perhaps I’d share the daily routine I currently follow to keep the years visibly away.   This post is about my current face cleansing routine. This is by no means a routine with high-end products since I sincerely appreciate the convenience of having the drug store around the corner where I can easily find my scrub if I’d forgotten it on my weekly shopping trip. This is by all means a routine of convenience and a modest budget; using all drugstore products. So let’s get into it.

From MiPhone to Yours…

From MiPhone to Yours_apps pic

Can we just take a moment…let’s take a moment to thank all app developers EVERYWHERE! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, developers! For creating millions of fun, interesting, useful, practical, productive, and time-sucking applications to keep us connected and entertained….every second…of every day. 😬 These applications are so engaging they keep us completely captivated hurriedly seeking the “$10 Off” or BOGO coupons as we stand in line at the grocery store, wait around for our friends as they shamelessly squeeze themselves into that “hoe-ish” little black dress you wished they would’ve put back on the rack, and (from time-to-time) keeps us unwittingly holding up the line for devoted Starbucks addicts.

These are 10 of my most favorite applications (of the 147 I currently have loaded on my iPhone😏). Some are fantastic time-wasters, while others actually make you feel more productive. If you don’t have any of these yet, I hope you’ll give them a try!
